My 30th Birthday is coming up.
And I wanted to end my last days of my 20s by listening to the music that helped me throughout my almost 30 years of life.
I had different phases:
An MTV PHASE that started with TLC. Then it turned into a long phase of POP music from watching lots of TRL after school. And going into my big love for *NSYNC (and they were the best first concert I could ever ask for)
Then I went into my teens and depression began. And a new darker phase began, the EMO phase. Which started with bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday plus a lot more. And sprinkled in that phase were screamo bands that fully expressed how I felt at that time. This was the phase where I went to many shows and went to Vans Warped Tour almost every summer.
And then came Paramore, my favorite band when I was 14 until now. I probably wrote so many posts on how Paramore’s music has helped me throughout the hardest years of my life since I was a teen.
Then after my emo phase, I calmed down a bit.
I don’t know when my love for Jason Mraz started. But it was somewhere in between the EMO phase and the next phase. But it deserves a shoutout because I cried in the car not too long ago listening to “The Remedy”.
The next phase was probably the INDIE (ish) phase. It’s probably not Indie, but that’s what I called it. I’m sorry. Which included Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club, Foster the People and many more.
The phase after that was just a mixture of music.
I discovered my love for Musical Theatre after watching Wicked.
And fell in love with Broadway Cast Recordings of: Newsies, Matilda, Finding Neverland, Spring Awakening, Heathers Waitress, Hamilton (which I’m watching next week), and of course Dear Evan Hansen.
“Dear Evan Hansen” has helped me tremendously within the past year. Just listen to it.
Music is definitely a huge part of my life. And I definitely am thankful that it’s has helped more throughout my life. It’s provided me with motivating music to get through school and work. It has given me music to cry to and provided lyrics to help me through a break up or depression.
I wouldn’t be here today without music.
I am forever grateful for music.
